Indian Anime

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

The global digital animation industry is poised to grow to billion by this year. The Indian animation industry is expected to reach billion by 2008. Big numbers, pointing to India's next big outsourcing boom. Labor arbitrage numbers are absolutely fantastic: 5/hour in the US versus /hour in India for animators. Million to 5 Million for a full-length features film in the US versus - Million in India.

As in the software industry, much of the growth is driven by off-shoring and contract services. Original productions are still very rare, although this month, an animation feature called Hanuman has been released by Sahara India Mass Communication and Percept India in association with Silvertoons. Hanuman is the Hindu monkey god, a superhero of sorts who can move mountains, eat the moon, fly (of course) ...

The quality of indigenous animation films have traditionally been quite pathetic, because of huge budget constraints. Networks pay in the range of 0-00 per 20-25 minute episode of an animation TV series, where it costs a good ,000-,000 per minute of finished animation, bringing the cost of that episode to 0k+. The economics of television, as it stands, does not work, and need to be re-engineered, if the animation channels need to continue broadcasting quality productions.

Film economics, on the other hand, DOES work. - Million is still a relatively low budget film, and if India can develop enough sophistication in story-telling, direction and animation, I see this as a very viable route to attempt to build a genre a la the Japanese Anime. Princess Mononoke, the crown jewel of this genre had a production budget of Million, and grossed 0 Million+ worldwide. It was, needless to say, enormously successful in Japan, first, but also grossed a decent .3 Million in the US (dubbed in English).

So, for India, the goal should be to develop a genre like Anime with deep and exciting plots, exotic imagery and ambience, make the films successful in India first, and then market abroad. The film economics can be extremely compelling.

Issues Should Face When Designing a Banner

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Banners along with other online advertising designs are becoming increasingly common. A banner ad should be well designed to get the required result from marketing efforts. It is true that sometimes being different is OK but not always. The real thing which works magic is to know when to be different and when to conform. A good designer is well aware of whether or not something will work or not and help to produce a banner that works well to make you spread your business. If you don't want to be different it will not make much difference. You just keep in mind few essential things while designing a banner.

The first most common requirement in designing a banner is its size. Today's standardized grid type layouts usually support banners of certain size. You can start your canvas easily using any banner size on nay graphic editing software like adobe Photoshop. The purpose of the banner is to grab the attention of the viewer or reader. You should select background according to the target audience. For young audience use the background colors which are appealing for them. You can use image or scenery to present the idea you want to bring out. Next is to select the color scheme. Your purpose is to attract the customers and you don't want the banner color scheme to be washed out or blend with the design of the site too much. It is good to test different version, especially if your banner will be placed on various sites. Your banner should always contain anything identifying your product, service or cause.

Make it sure that your brand is prominently identifies and you also have included marketing text to tempt readers to check out what you offer. Use animations, keep the message short, link the banner to specific page, use bright colors, feature a call to action, use the word free in your banner and give the benefit of clicking on your banner are certain tips if used can provide you an effective and successful banner design while not being different on banner design.

When you have finalized your design, don't forget it to save in different sizes and formats. Having different sizes and color scheme will help you to change banner images on the fly instead of twisting the entire site's layout every time when change is required. It is not necessary to be different to get required results instead you have to make sure that clear and precise message should be delivered to the right audience in an effective manner.

From Coleco Vision to iPhone Games - Some High Water Marks in Video Game Design History - Part 3

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Shining in the Darkness (Genesis) - Developed by Climax Entertainment and Sonic! Software Planning, the role-playing-game (RPG) Shining in the Darkness (SiTD) was the first entry in the Shining series. This series of games would eventually include over 20 titles and its very own animated television program. This first entry in the series featured very sharp graphics and high quality audio for its time, but it was the quality of level design that made it a fan favorite and caused the demand for its many sequels.

The standout moment for SiTD comes only a few moments in, when the player heads to the main labyrinth in search of the missing characters. Upon entrance into the labyrinth proper the player learns that the dungeon crawling in SiTD will be done in the first person - a stark contrast to the third person perspective most RPGs had utilized up to that point. By playing the game through the character's viewpoint, the player was immediately immersed in the gameplay environment. Monsters would appear right before the player's eyes, rather than through the typical third person to battle perspective shift. This simple use of fixed perspective created a level of involvement and connection that few console gamers (and even fewer RPG players) had experienced up to that point. Joined with mood appropriate music, plentiful enemy types, a lengthy campaign, a rich item creation system and a surprisingly effective story, this perspective helped deliver one of the more memorable RPG experiences of the Genesis' library. While first person has become the standard perspective for games across many genres, the first person RPG is still, unfortunately, quite the rarity.

The Legend of Zelda (NES) - Coming on a shiny gold (plastic) cartridge and featuring some of the greatest video game music of all time, The Legend of Zelda (TLoZ) for the NES is one of the seminal titles in video game history. Anybody who has played it can tell you how amazingly progressive it was and how it changed - and ultimately defined - the Action-RPG genre. Although it is difficult to point to any one aspect of TLoZ as its singular defining moment, the game's very first screen is as good a place as any to single out.

When beginning a game of TLoZ, the game's main character, Link, is weaponless. He begins on the gameplay map with the choice of travelling North, East, West....or journeying into a cave - a journey which will reward the player with their first sword. Immediately, the player sees the openness of the world in front of them. The option for entering a cave - vital to not only completing the game, but even making incremental progress - is presented and the player rewarded for making that choice. This instills in the player from the outset that exploration is necessary and will be rewarded. While one could easily write a thesis paper detailing the brilliant design choices present throughout TLoZ, it is the way the game design welcomes the player to the world and immediately outlines the crucial aspects of gameplay that makes up this particular point of praise.

The Amazing World of Wii Accessories

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

If you thought your television is something to passively gaze at when you are too tired to do anything else, Nintendo's Wii altered that thinking by linking interactivity to your TV. Since Wii is a gaming console, there are 208 (at last count) WiiWare games for every age group, interest, exercise level for both adults and children. If your preferred game type is adventure and action-Wii's most prolific--Wii has games for you. Ditto for puzzles, sports, fitness, and racing. The health and exercise games designed for every fitness level can be done in the comfort of your home. Even though the Wii ships with an AV cable, AC adapter, and console stand, there are other accessories that you might want and need. The console and the games are just the beginning of the Wii experience. Accessories are plentiful and enticing for Wii aficionados to add their Wii enjoyment. Many are sold by Wii, made by manufacturers approved by Wii, or made by other manufacturers and are available at stores such as Best Buy, Toys R Us, Target, and from online sources.

Controllers take on a life of their own when it comes to accessories. The Wii Remote Controller (including a "jacket") eliminates the lack of portability of the joystick and gives you free motion. It is motion-sensing for a perfect tennis or baseball swing, is effective up to 10 feet away, and can accommodate up to four players at once. It comes with a speaker and has ports for additional Wii accessories. About the same size as a TV remote but with fewer buttons, it is easy to use right out of the box. There is even an accessory to the controller accessory--the Wii MotionPlus-that gives the player more precision with specific games such as basketball. Wii Sensor Bar also works with controllers for motions made by the arm. Another have-to-have is the Nunchuk that hooks up to the controller, is also sensitive to motion, and provides flexibility in moving characters around during games. Ever expanding the collection of controllers, Wii offers the Classic Controller allowing you wireless connectivity to the console. It may be required for some games and it may or may not be compatible with all games, so a little homework is needed before purchasing. The wrist strap for the controller keeps it securely in your hand so the excitement of the game doesn't cause it to flip out of your hand.

Remember the statement about passively staring at the TV. Wii loves interaction and participation and proves it by an array of fitness accessories. The Balance Board makes it impossible not to participate. It will get you out of your recliner and into exercise. It comes with Wii Fit Plus software and senses your weight, balance, and feet movement as you do your exercise routines. It will give you a reality check (whether you want it or not) on your balance, your Body Mass Index based on your height and weight to determine your fitness or lack thereof, your Wii Fit "age" based on your balance assessment and your chronological age, tracks the amount of activity you do, and customizes routines for you to reach your fitness goals. When you don't have time, don't want to join a gym, or don't want to be embarrassed, exercising in the privacy of your own home is the answer with a Wii. It just might be fun as well as healthy and motivating. You can check the number of calories burned, chart your progress daily, and choose yoga and strength-building exercises. And you can purchase a silicone sleeve to keep the board looking new. An addition is the aerobics step platform that goes under the balance board to raise it four inches for intensive step aerobics. Two-pound dumbbells (remote and Nunchuck required) adds more punch to your aerobics with strength and cardio exercises. Gold's Gym Cardio Workout guides you through cardio exercises including boxing, push-ups, and jogging and uses the board for extra intensity. Boxing gloves enhance the play of the sports and cardio boxing games offered by Wii. Just when you thought there wasn't any other piece of gear to get you moving, someone suggests padded socks to wear when using the balance board. They are flexible, breathable, and secure. Remember activity is in-passivity is out!

Dance pads or mats with a rubber base to prevent slippage are a great way to get people up and dancing by just following the arrows. Two or more dancers will make the party even more interesting so invest in a couple of these. Children love music and dancing so let them come to your parties. Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party game featuring the greatest hits of the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's includes one dance pad. For a healthier workout, add the Balance Board for more intense dancing. This game is as much for couch potatoes as for skilled dancers. It also includes a way to measure the calories you burned. Dancing is great fun and a lot less boring than the treadmill, so put on your dancing shoes and get moving. If you aren't into dancing, a wireless guitar that attaches to the remote through the Nunchuk just might get you into the music.

If racing and driving gaming is your thrill, you need the Wii Wheel to make the games more adventurous. The Wheel is intuitive, accurate, and realistic. It snaps into the remote controller (which is needed for the Wheel to function) and has its own set of games that works with it such as Mario Kart Wii, F1 2009, and Need for Speed: Nitro. Take the wheel and feel the rush of speed and control as never before-from the comfort of your family room. For games involving shooting, the Nyko Perfect Shot looks like a pistol with a sight for accuracy, trigger, and the ability to slide into the remote. As with other accessories, a Nunchuk is required to use the Perfect Shot.

If you haven't gotten the idea that one Wii accessory requires yet another one, there is the Wii Zapper that links the remote controller and the Nunchuk. (As a review, remember that these two are purchased separately.) Assembly is required-just attach the Nunchuk and the remote controller to the Zapper. Since is comes with crossbow training software and since the name says it all, it is particularly handy for games involving shooting and moving. The Zapper is recommended for games such as Dead Space Extraction, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex Edition.

Wii Speak gives people in different locations the ability to chat provided they have Friend Codes with each other. Sitting on your TV, the Speak is a microphone for the Wii console and enables you to talk or send a voice message to friends who also have a Speak. While not Wii accessories, it requires a router and high-speed Internet. Sometimes it comes with the Animal Crossing software where you customize your town and use the Speak microphone to talk to other players online. Not everyone will be fascinated by this accessory, but it gives the feeling of connection to the players.

Then there are adapters and cables. The AC Adapter powers the console and fits any 110-volt outlet while the LAN Adapter connects the console to the Internet in the absence of a router. Cables include the Wii Component Video Cable for connecting the console to an HDTV for enhanced viewing and the Wii AV Cables for connecting the console to inputs on a TV, DVD player, or VCR.

Always having remotes ready for use requires a charge system with either flat cradles or a stand-up model to hold the remotes via magnets with green and red LED lights indicating the status of the charge. Included with the charging system are an AC power cord, covers, and two rechargeable battery packs. Up to two remotes can be charged at the same time giving you fully charged remotes to assure that the competitive spirit of the moment will not be interrupted when a battery fails.

A gaming memory card by SanDisk provides extra memory in case your Wii internal memory is almost full. To stop a game that you want to continue at a later time, the card provides 2GB of memory to save games, and download photos and games from the Internet. Even though you wanted to continue the game but your son's baseball game was priority, you have the peace of mind of knowing that you can pick up the game at the exact place where you were when you stopped playing.

The start-up Wii is about 0 and some gadgets cost upward to 0 with many, however, around . Even though some Wii accessories have small prices, accumulating the ones you want might end up costing you a bundle. You can even buy the Wii Lens Cleaning Kit to keep your console operating effectively. Welcome to the wonderful wide world of Wii accessories.

Best Cover Letters For Getting Job Interviews

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

There's no doubt about it. People who write the best cover letters get the best job interviews. Research shows that the most effective, cover letters have a number of common characteristics. They follow a 3-part format that consistently garners positive results and earns the job applicants who wrote them highly sought after job interviews.

Even if you're not a great writer, you can write great cover letters by following the format listed below. Use this format to write the best cover letters for getting job interviews. If you write your cover letter and still aren't comfortable with the result, have no fear. The link at the end of the article offers cover letter writing services and software that may assist you.

But first things first...

1. Grab Attention in Your First Paragraph is the first tip to writing best cover letters for getting job interviews.

Hiring managers review hundreds of cover letters and resumes for every job they fill. To get attention, your cover letter must stand out. Here are examples of effective and interesting first paragraphs. Choose the one that works best for your situation and modify it to suit your needs.

State how your skills and experience match the job description and would be a benefit to the organization.

  • Example: After graduating from Northeastern University with a B.S. in Computer Graphic Technology, I spent the summer interning in New York City at Sunrise Communications. During that time, I brainstormed ideas and story concepts with Sunrise's Creative Team. I drew detailed storyboards that formed the basis for local and international TV advertisements. At Sunrise, I learned to share ideas, accept criticism and problem-solve in a high-pressured environment.
  • Example: In response to this opportunity, I would like to call attention to my experience in producing and directing numerous PR events throughout Orange County as well as my large network of both celebrity and national media contacts.
  • Example: Since graduating from Simmons College Prince Program of Retail Management, I've been involved in all aspects of retail, from front-of-the-store management and training to inventory planning, buying, and merchandising. I have worked in both specialty and mass markets and have broad-based experience dealing with customers, fellow employees, management, and vendors. I thrive in a fast-paced environment and feel energized by the thought of helping manage the L.L. Bean Women's Department.

If you've talked with the hiring manager, use the first paragraph to remind her of the conversation.

  • Example: Thank you for calling me about the Character Animator position posted on Pixar's website. I enjoyed talking with you and learning more about this position.

If appropriate, don't be afraid to name drop.

  • Example: Henry Smith, who supervised my work as a summer intern with your firm, recommended that I apply for the position of Associate Attorney.

Mention something you know about the organization.

  • Example: I read the June 10th issue of The Kentucky Sun with great interest. The article, "How One Restaurant Makes a Difference" applauded Pannucci's contribution to the Good Shepherd Food Bank. I believe my experience as a pastry chef as well as my work on the Eastside Food Pantry's Board of Directors makes me a perfect candidate for the position of Pannucci Head Pastry Chef.
  • Example: Cuddledown's branded voice is recognizable and respected; its high-quality products are well positioned in the market. I would welcome the chance to develop and execute marketing strategies to increase sales and distribution of the company's products.

Get their attention by asking a question.

  • Example: Are you looking for a self-motivated individual who has organized large-scale events and significantly improved customer retention?

2. Keep Their Attention in the Middle is the second tip to write best cover letters for getting job interviews.

As you write, keep the company's point of view in mind. Try to anticipate what the hiring manager is looking for and include that information. If you have an employment gap or some other item on your resume that you think the hiring manager will question, succinctly and without apology, answer the issue in the middle section of your cover letter.

In the middle section of your cover letter, tell how your education and experience match the job description. Use specific examples to show how your skills meet the job requirements. .

  • Example: To manage this department, I would call on my experience at Jordan Marsh as the Liz Claiborne Department Manager. There, I merchandised product and motivated my sales team to generate the highest company-wide sales volume for dress collections. I am a natural sales person and definitely "have a knack" for merchandising and visual presentation.
  • Example: Throughout my years as a caseworker, I have helped many clients identify and apply for jobs that match their skill sets. I believe my dedication to the people I serve and my ability to identify and match their strengths to the job market makes me the perfect candidate for Employment Specialist position at Crossroads Community Services.

If appropriate, mention specific goals you have accomplished.

  • Example: While at Nordstrom's, I motivated my team to exceed department sales goals of .2 million annually. The team generated the highest company-wide sales volume for the dress collection.
  • Example: While providing administrative support to the Director of Marketing and Sales, I reduced company travel expenditures by ,000 in my first three months by renegotiating contracts with the department's suppliers.

3. End your Cover Letter with an Action Follow Up and a Respectful Close is the third tip for writing best cover letters for getting job interviews.

Your closing paragraph or sentence should encourage action.

  • ·Example: As requested, I have enclosed my resume for your review. I look forward to discussing my qualifications and learning more about the position. Please contact me at 555.555.5555 or by email at dede@afewgoodwords.com with any additional questions. Thank you for your time and consideration.

End your letter with a respectful and professional close. "Sincerely yours" or "Respectfully yours" works well.

That's it. Use this 3-part format to write best cover letters for getting job interviews. If you do, you'll end up with a cover letter that will stand up to the competition and get you the job interviews you deserve.

Best of luck in your job search.

The Making of Pixar's 'Cars' and Disney Cars Toys

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

With a gross earning of over 0,000,000 worldwide, the 2006 animated film Cars by Pixar was 2006's highest animated grossing film in the US, losing only to Ice age: The Meltdown on the global scale. This revenue does not include income from the Disney cars toys industry.

Starting from the early stages of production the team in Pixar Studios started their research at the race tracks in Infineon Raceway ( Sonoma county), riding in race cars driven by expert drivers to feel how the cars move and react to speed and forces in the physics of the real world. They would also study traffic on the morning commute and went on a field trip along route 66 watching the small towns that were effected from the new highways and intersections that were built. The photos from this trips helped the modelers and environment designers build their scenes and unravel the story.

Animators studied the movements of athletes to see how they twist , turn and move and even took acting classes to get into the cars' shoes (or tires). Developers sketched multiple cars designs (from different time periods) following John Lesseter's guidelines which did a research of his own visiting the design studios of 3 major auto makers to see how the cars are designed. John wanted, for example, to have the cars eyes at the windshields instead of the headlights which made them look snake-like .An additional request was to use the tires as hands except vehicles with hooks that use them for pulling and towing. It is a continuing challenge to make they cars human like without losing their authenticity.

When the design phase was done, 3d models were sculptured in clay and when approved they would be scanned to 3d software. The same models were used later as reference for Disney cars toys.

The next phase before animating any sequence would be to make the car look realistic by applying textures, shadows, reflections and lighting.

Once the movie was released additional products were released such as Disney cars toys, dvds books, accessories and more that made cars one of the best selling animation feature even today, 3 years after release.

Currently (dated Aug 2009) pixar studios, which is located in Emeryville, California have earned twenty two academy awards, three Grammys and four golden globes for their achievements in the animated industry.

Virtual Presentations That Work

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Executives of Fortune 100 companies are directing their organizations to conduct more meetings using electronic conferencing software (e.g., Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro, WebEx). Technical communicators are concerned that the limitations of the medium will severely diminish the effectiveness of their presentations. They want to prepare themselves to develop and conduct electronic meetings that are compelling, interactive, and motivational.

I believe that it is not the medium that creates compelling communication; it is the communication strategies used. Electronic meetings have several inherent drawbacks (e.g., lack of visual feedback, more difficult social interaction), but there are also strengths (e.g., the ability to collaborate over great distances unbounded by time). Flexibility and creativity enable technical communicators to duplicate all of the benefits of a physical meeting in a virtual meeting.

To follow are a wealth of ideas that are useful in organizing virtual meetings.

Gain Attention

Begin your virtual meeting with a well-thought-out introduction. Introduce yourself and, if time permits, invite participants to introduce themselves. Ask them to share background information, including professional and personal interests and hobbies. Post your picture and, if possible, pictures of participants. Use innovative methods for gathering and sharing participant background information (e.g., matching unique experiences with the appropriate participant).

Establish Relevance

Poll participants to determine their background and interest in the subject. Use a wide variety of media. These may include animations, background information, current events, cartoons, articles, thought-provoking questions, quotes, and stories.

Present Information

Incorporate the same types of multimedia presentation that you would in a face-to-face presentation. Use different types of media such as text, graphics, animations, video and multimedia presentations, illustrations, diagrams, schematics, models, audio presentations, and concrete objects. Consistently refer to the meeting schedule that you presented at the beginning of the presentation and provide content summaries throughout the session. Present information in short chunks and in a logical flow while varying the pace and format every five to six minutes.

Incorporate compelling communications strategies that include:
o Storytelling
o Guest-speaker presentations, which can be virtual
o Simulations
o Analogies
o Assignments
o Case studies
o Discovery learning
o Examples and non-examples
o Experiments
o Graphical representations
o Hints and cues
o Ideas
o Mnemonics
o Games
o Physical models to portray relationships

Support your main ideas with graphics whenever possible. Keep the information simple, especially if you are using PowerPoint. Be careful about colors, white space, and fonts; limit your usage of different fonts and colors.

Tell participants what you are going to tell them, tell them, and then tell them what you have told them. This should be easy, since you have a plenty of media to play with. You can set the stage in a multimedia presentation, then present the topic via a whiteboard presentation, and finally review the topic in a discussion using the chat or a polling feature.

Enable participants to download documents instead of passing them out. Be sure to use PDFs, since they display and print more predictably than other document formats. Use the whiteboard as you would a flip chart. Point to, highlight, draw, and notate on the whiteboard. Refer to websites and other resources; use them as valuable sources of information, references, and exercise materials. Present information from another point of view (e.g., customer, competitor, user, and engineer). Anticipate and prepare for participant's questions. Construct job aids that distill relevant information.

Conducting Demonstrations

Use case studies related to real-life situations. Ask participants to explore controversial issues. Request that participants share their own experiences related to the content.

Show photographs or video presentations of salient portions of demonstrations and use drawing and text tools for highlighting and labeling. Use screen sharing to demonstrate computer applications and drawing tools to label and highlight sections of the screen. Select examples and activities that mirror the setting where participants will apply their new skills.

Facilitating Practice

Incorporate practice to maintain participation and interest. Assign participants to groups and ask them to collaborate on specific assignments. The group size should be no more than four participants. Assign and rotate roles within each group to ensure sharing and cooperation. If applicable, synthesize activities completed outside of the meeting. Encourage lively presentations of no longer than five minutes in length. Encourage participants to use the whiteboard. Use case studies, role-plays, and simulations that mimic real-life activities.

If participants cannot interact with the real systems, provide links to training databases or test sites. Display participants' screens if you would like them to demonstrate their usage of applications or share information as part of interactive demonstrations or exercises.

Instigating and Managing Discussions

Open discussions with a provoking comment. Plant ideas by asking a leading question on the whiteboard or in a chat window. Conduct structured discussions by including a proposed outline of the discussion. Keep the discussion on course by clarifying the theme of the discussion and the topics that you expect to cover. Closely manage discussions. Use the microphone, whiteboard, chat window, or email as media in the discussion. Give learners "interesting" roles during discussions. Always end discussions by restating the goals of the discussion, summarizing the results, and pointing out how the results relate to the next topic.

Assessing Participant Engagement

Use frequent polling questions to verify understanding, wake-up participants, determine their level of engagement, or determine where participants stand on particular issues. Ask questions that are clear, pertinent, brief, and challenging. Utilize the polling capability to ask true/false or multiple-choice questions and see how many participants selected each choice. You may keep these results to yourself or share them with all participants. Include questions with a degree of difficulty that matches the level of the audience. Avoid feedback that is brief or abrupt. Participants may interpret such feedback as angry. Have groups use materials and assessment instruments located in a shared folder to complete in-basket exercises (e.g., completing customer service transactions in a variety of situations).

Developing and Conducting Exciting and Motivating Activities

Create constructive conflict or "creative abrasion" by:
o Asking leading questions
o Representing other points of view
o Explore the content in a new context (e.g., in George Orwell's Animal Farm, the author used the metaphor of a farm to illustrate the dangers of unbridled capitalism)

Extract positive outcomes from difficult situations by:
o Directing the question to the group
o Asking the group for solutions or methods to find solutions
o Calling upon specific participants to help out

Build suspense by creating activities (e.g., discussions, games) where the results are not predictable. Also feel free to change the rules while the activities are still in motion. Do so using chats, selective emails, and several shared folders to provide different groups with varying rules and instructions.

Foster participant collaboration by creating group activities. Enable groups to communicate using chat areas or emails. If you are bold, you can have groups set up their own virtual meetings in order to work together. Be sure to assign a leader for each group.

Good luck and enjoy!

Spyware, Adware, Virus Removers and Registry Cleaners - Are They All the Same?

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

There seems to be a lot of confusion when it comes to the tools we use to keep our computers free of spyware, adware, viruses and the like. Unfortunately, my suspicious nature makes me feel a lot of this confusion is just fine with many of the sellers of these software programs. This article will set you straight about what to use to keep your computer free of what.

First, let's boil the excess terminology down to where it's easier to digest. When we talk about a scanner or a cleaner or a remover or a software program we mean the same thing. All these terms describe what I usually refer to as a cleaner. So, with that out of the way, let's simplify further:

· Spyware, adware and malware  are taken care of by the same cleaner, but
· Viruses are only removed by a virus cleaner
· A registry cleaner is responsible for eliminating corruption from the operating system's registry. Though this is important, it doesn't deal with viruses, spyware or anything else.

So basically, you need a virus cleaner and a spyware cleaner if you want to keep your computer free of all parasites. You will definitely want to do this because one virus can ruin your operating system altogether and repairing it may require a hard drive reformat! On top of that, spyware can literally rob you blind as it steals your Social Security number and banking account numbers. Adware, though it is only trying to figure out your shopping habits or what demographic you fall into, uses your computer's precious resources to do so. This means enough of it will cause your computer to slow down.

Now, here's where it gets tricky again; in recent years cleaners have come to the market that are one software package but they are good virus cleaners and good spyware cleaners as well. So, if you have such a cleaner, you essentially have a virus cleaner and a spyware cleaner. If you don't, you need both a virus cleaner and a spyware cleaner.

In a truly technical sense, malware means any type of spyware, adware or virus because malware is a techie term for "Malicious Software." However, in the industry, malware refers to all the different types of spyware and generally does not mean viruses. So, when looking at an advertisement for a malware cleaner, assume it is just a spyware cleaner unless it explicitly says it cleans all malware and viruses.

A registry cleaner is another animal. It does not clean viruses or spyware, and virus and spyware cleaners don't have the capability of cleaning registry corruption. I tell my customers to make sure they are free of all viruses and spyware. Then, once they are, if their computer is getting errors or its performance is slow or just subpar, they need to clean the registry.

On-Campus and Online Colleges Expand Offerings in Arts and Design

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

As the demand for graphic designers trained to use the latest software continues to grow, more universities are expanding and diversifying their offerings in art and design. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports job prospects for graphic designers is expected to grow by 10 percent over the next seven years. Employment opportunities for those who have website design and animation experience will be particularly promising.

Most employers require applicants to have a bachelor's degree in fine arts or graphic design. As a result, many colleges and institutions of higher learning are tailoring their art and design programs to help their students gain a competitive edge in an increasingly competitive job market.

Because graphic design involves the use of many different software platforms, the field is constantly evolving as the availability of new technology increases. Consequently, training programs for individuals wishing to enter this field have been forced to adapt to changes in the industry.

To meet the needs of students and working adults who require flexible degree programs, CollegeAmerica has announced the availability of an online degree program in graphic arts. In partnership with Stevens-Henager College, the institution has established a program that integrates online and classroom-based coursework tailored to students with busy schedules who wish to launch or accelerate a career in graphic arts.

Courses start at the beginning of every month, which allows students to pursue the degree whenever they are able. Classes include the animation and website design components that are currently critical to success in the field. Other class topics include graphic design, flash, typography, Javascript, Photoship, Adobe Illustrator, pre-press Operations, Front Page digital imaging, marketing, computer fundamentals and databases.

Brick-and-mortar schools are also addressing the need for improved training in the field. For example, High Point University recently announced the creation of its new School of Art and Design, Business News reports.

The Triad, North Carolina-based university created the school as an expansion of its arts program. Through it, degree programs in art, graphic design and interior design will be offered. This is the first year the college will offer a degree in graphic design.

Create a Virtual 3D World on Your Website

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

VRML, which stands for virtual reality markup language, is a technology for animation and 3D modeling that lets you create 3D scenes for websites. A special VRML browser plug in lets you control the viewing of VRML components on web sites. Panoramas are another type of virtual reality component, similar in some ways to VRML in that the user needs a special plug in to view and control the viewing of the panoramic virtual reality component. However, unlike VRML panoramas are made up of a series of photographs stitched together to create one image that you can view entirely as you move your cursor across the image.

Web designers add virtual reality (VR) components to web pages for several reasons, including to make web pages more interesting and interactive, and to display an item in a 3D view.

Some common formats for panoramas include Quick Time VR, VRML2, Black Diamond's Surround Video, and Infinite Pictures SmoothMove.

VRML offers uses for many types of websites, including entertainment, education, computer aided design, product marketing, virtual malls, and much more. Panoramas are useful for these same types of websites, as well as real estate and travel.

VR components offer many advantages to web site designers. They make web sites more interesting and interactive, provide more detail for objects or places than regular flat photos, there is no need for complex programming to add a VR component to your web site , and they generally have cross-platform and cross-browser compatibility. Some disadvantages include requirement of a plug in for viewing, (in many cases), long download time for some web VR components, depending on the file size and type, and the needed skills and creativity for quality output.

Many software programs, such as Caligari's TrueSpace, Micrografx Simply 3D, Silicon Graphics Internet 3D Space Builder, and Platinum Technology's VRCreator learning edition, automatically creat VRML files for you.

Some software options for panorama creation include Apple's Quick Time VR Authoring Studio, Enroute Imaging's QuickStitch 360, Video Brush Corporation's VideoBrush Panorama, Live Picture's Photo Vista, Infinite Picture's Smooth Move, Ulead's Cool 360, and Black Diamond's Surround Video.

Now, go forth and CREATE!

Anatomy and Physiology Study Guides - Easy Way to Memorize Anatomy Terms

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Studying anatomy and physiology can be very frustrating. Have you ever searched for a simpler way to study anatomy? I went thorough the pain of memorizing mountains of medical terms. I must tell you it's not a simple task to remember them even English not to mention the Latin terms. If you truly want to make your study easier then pay close attention to this article and it will make you one step close to your goal.

o First of all memorizing the term and its meaning is very similar to learning a foreign language. That's why I have borrowed a tip to remember the words. Take a bunch of index cards and write down a term on one side of the card and its meaning on other side of it. Do it with all the terms you need to memorize. Now going through the cards one by one flipping them makes it much easier to memorize the terms. Alternate back and forth until you can give the meaning or the term and then look at the definition first and name the term.

o Second tip that was extremely helpful for me is to have some visualization of the human anatomy. You know that people receive the large portion of information from environment through eyes. Pictures and diagrams are good help. But I found even better solution. There are some pieces of software that show the three dimensional human skeletal and muscular structure. Never underestimate the power of animation. You will be surprised how easier it makes memorizing the bones and muscles of human body.

Game Design Software For Aspiring Video Game Designers

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

If you have a passion for video games and you already know you want a future job in the game design industry, right now is the best time to start developing your skills and getting some experience. If you're not yet in a position to take college level courses in programming or design, one of the best things you can do is start working with game design software at home. Here are three titles you can start with - all of them free.

1. Crystal Space - 3D Game Design Engine

This open source game engine is an excellent way to get your feet wet if you're interested in multi-platform game development. Since it allows you to develop games using the C++ programming language, it is an an excellent design software title to start with. Besides allowing you to gain first hand experience in 3D visualization, Crystal Space will also help you develop your keyframe and skeletal frame game animation design skills too.

Since there are versions to download for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X, anyone aspiring to get into the game design industry can gain a lot of experience by working with this on their home computer first. There is also a large support community online that can answer your questions and help you learn and develop your design skills with this title.

2. Cube - First Person Shooter Game Design Software

If you're not quite up to programming in C++ yet, but still want to get a feel for game design, you should certainly download and try working with Cube. This is a first person shooter (FPS) game and game engine that is open source. If you enjoy titles like Quake and Doom, this engine will allow you to create your own game with similar action and physics.

With this software, you can design your own FPS game world and learn to work with basic game design features such as lighting, textures, and other graphics. You'll also learn to program collision detection and other physics necessary to create realistic weapon functions. To top it off, the game you design can be programmed for single player and multiplayer modes. Again, this title is perfect for starting out in game design as it can be downloaded and run from a Windows PC, a Linux machine or a Mac.

3. DimensioneX - MMORPG Game Design Engine

With the popularity of massively multi-player online role playing games (MMORPGs) such as World of Warcraft, you'll probably want to get some experience with designing these types of games as well. If so, you should download and spend some time with DimensioneX. While most of the design software for MMORPGs is quite expensive, this title, like the ones above, is open source and free.

DimensioneX will allow you to develop multi-player games that run on a Java servlet and use a scripting code similar to BASIC. This means that not only is the programming language easy to master, but after you create the game, you can easily upload it to a webserver and others can play it with you online. Although you can't create massive in-depth worlds with it, it will at least allow you to learn and work with important MMORPG game design concepts including maps, player communications, sounds and more.

Does Your Family Know How to be Safe on the Internet?

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

A USA Today article that ran in July 2005 cited findings from a survey conducted by the Kaiser Family Foundation. They found that during the school year, kids between the ages of 8 and 10 years old spent an average of 6 hours per day watching television, playing video games and/or using computers.

Since more than half of America's 100 million households have Internet access, I can only assume that some of their computer time is spent in online activities. My question is how safe are these kids? Do they know what to look out for? Do they know how to handle themselves online?

Here are some topics to discuss with your children. Keep in mind that each family has their own rules for Internet use. Some parents don't allow their children to be on the Internet at all, others will monitor their child's Internet use, and still others have no concern and let their kids surf wherever and whenever they want.

Strangers.

The Internet is a wonderful place to meet people from all around the world. I remember having a pen pal when I was young and would check the mail every day to see if I got a letter. Now all one has to do is turn on the computer and check their Inbox! Friends who are separated by a move can still talk every day through email, chat rooms and Instant Messaging (IM).

The drawback to this is that no one knows who you really are on the Internet. Even in so-called "safe" chat rooms someone can be posing as a teenager and they are really a predator. Just as you wouldn't want your kids to tell a stranger on the street where they live, you don't want them to do so online either. Teach your children to never tell anyone online their names, addresses or other pertinent information.

If you decide to allow your children to use IM or chat rooms, monitor their activity. Set up their profile yourself and give as little information as possible. It may be helpful for you and your child to watch the short movie "Tracking Teresa" on the Kidsmartz.org website (http://www.netsmartz.org/resources/reallife.htm#realTeresa).

Commercialism.

Just like TV, there are lots of ads on the Internet. Unlike TV, we don't get a break from them! They are everywhere! They show up as pop-up ads, banners, hover boxes, games and they are even disguised as articles or information items. They warn you that your computer is infected, you have new mail, you are the umpteenth-million visitor to this site or they may look like a survey or poll. And ads on sites geared for kids are often very inviting and intriguing.

Along with ads we also have adware. Microsoft defines adware as "Advertising that is integrated into software. Adware is often combined with a host application that is provided at no charge as long as the user agrees to accept the adware." So a child could download a "free" game or screensaver that has adware attached to it. This adware will install itself on your computer, track all of your Internet activity and show you advertising in the form of annoying pop-ups or banner ads. If your kids are like mine, they don't always read the fine print and just click on the "I accept" button to get their freebies!

Talk to your kids about Internet advertising and Adware. Let them know that they are the same as ads on TV. Someone just wants you to buy their new product. Take your kids to PBS' Don't Buy It! website (http://pbskids.org/dontbuyit/ ) for great information on Internet and other media advertising.

Inappropriate Content.

The Internet is a great place to find information for any school science project or report. Just type in a phrase or topic in any search engine and you will get loads of links with useful information. But there are also many sites that contain inappropriate content under presumably innocent searches.

My friend was looking up information for her daughter's animal report and typed in "horse lovers" in a search engine, figuring that she may get horse enthusiast sites dedicated to providing information on their favorite animal. She got sites with horses on them, but they were horse lovers of a COMPLETELY different kind... And not too long ago, there was a site at http://www.whitehouse.com that was of an adult nature. (The real White House site is at http://www.whitehouse.gov.)

The only way to be sure that your child does not inadvertently find themselves on the wrong site is to be with them and guide them in their searches. It is also helpful to use a search engine specifically designed for children such as http://www.yahooligans.com or http://www.askjeeveskids.com.

Regardless of how much or how little your kids are on the Internet, take a minute to talk with them about the benefits and dangers involved in being online. Let them explore some sites that will help them learn about Internet safety. Here are a few that are extremely helpful when teaching Internet Safety to kids:

Netsmartz.org - Teens - http://www.netsmartz.org/netteens.htm

Netsmartzkids.org - Kids - http://www.netsmartzkids.org/indexfl.htm

IKeepSafe.com (this site is specialized for each state) - http://www.IKeepSafe.com

Disney's CyberNetiquette -- http://disney.go.com/cybersafety/

And remember - be involved in your children's Internet activity. Teach them to use this powerful tool responsibly. It will save them time and you headaches as you travel the World Wide Web.

Become a Forex Trader and Enjoy Your Time Earning an Income From the Comfort of Home

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Making money on the internet and forex trading are ever evolving animals. These days if you possess a computer and a credit card, then you are easily able to become a forex trader.

The amount of capital you trade and your possible losses are all under your control. Not to mention the abundance of automated trading software a your beck and call.

That said, not all of this software is effective and people are still rather apprehensive about relinquishing the fate of their capital to a robot. Anyway, being aggressive while remaining calm under pressure are warranted traits to become a forex trader. There will be days where you can't seem to put a foot right and lose money and others where you find it wonderfully easy to quickly double or even triple your initial investment.

You ultimately have to decide whether you are going to become a forex trader who is glued in front of the computer screen all day watching the trades or one who uses a set it and forget it system. Receiving information via email such as newsletters and alerts is a great way to stay on top of wht's happening in an automated fashion. Knowing what forces is exerting pressure in the forex market is always going to be to your advantage.

Listening to and reading expert analysis will certainly assist you in deciding on the proper course of action. Though you will always be somewhat at risk no matter how much you research the forex market. The rapid changes that sweep through the currency market can undermine even the most diligent research.

The key action to success is to remain calm at all times and to be rational in your buying and selling of positions. You will never be an expert at forex trading overnight. But once you are an accomplished trader, you'll enjoy the fruits of earning an income from the comfort of your home.

Digital Signage Content 101

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Once you've made the decision to invest in a signage network, you'll need content. Too often, new operators become so excited with the hardware and software that they completely neglect what they'll put on the screens. Without having messages to display, the signs become a money pit, unable to generate an acceptable ROI. In this article, we'll explore different types of content that you can use to grab your audience's attention and compel them to take action. I'll also describe a way in which you can cut costs and make your content creation easy.

How To Make It Compelling

Before we get into the various types that you can create, it's important that you have a clear grasp regarding the factors that make people take action. Your investment and deployment of your digital signage is built upon the expectation that it will encourage people to act. It's only when they do act that you can achieve your ROI.

There are 4 items that you should focus upon whenever you're designing new messages for your network. They include the color and contrast of your images or videos, a message that is both simple and clear, and an effective call to action. If your images and videos focus on those 4 things, your audience will find your message much more compelling.

Static Creatives

Some of the most effective messages are static. A lot of times, network operators are dazzled by what their signage can do with full-motion video or moving images. While there is a time and place for those types of media, they're often used with the wrong purpose: to impress rather than compel the audience. By contrast, a static piece of creative won't impress many people. But, it can focus on the fundamentals of what causes people to act. And when you're trying to compel your viewers to do something, that's critical.

Animation

If static creatives are so compelling, why use anything else? The reason to do so is because animation (and in some ways, full-motion video) can often achieve an effectiveness that a static message cannot. For example, you may want to use animation to support an existing television advertising campaign. Just remember, animation loses its ability to compel an audience when it departs from the fundamentals described above.

Full-Motion Video

For most signage network operators, full-motion video should be used sparingly. Like animation, it can be effective. But, it's very easy to lose control of your purpose. It's also very expensive to produce. Unless you have the budget and the need for full-motion video, it's probably best to avoid it.

Repurpose Current Creatives

If you've consulted with a creative design agency, you'll already know how expensive new content can be. Fortunately, there's an easy way that you can produce new signage content while saving money. The key is to repurpose any of your existing creatives. If you send mailers or brochures through the mail, they can be used on your network. In fact, anything that your company has in print or on your website can be repurposed relatively cheaply.

Besides having a ready source of usable content, there's another major advantage to repurposing. By using the same creatives and messages from your marketing materials throughout your signage network, you can leverage its impact. Chances are, your marketing materials are building your company's brand. Using it on your signage reinforces that brand in the minds of your customers.

When you're ready to start creating compelling content for your digital signage network, consider what I've explained above. Use color and contrast, keep your message clear and simple, and include a call to action. Stick with static creatives most of the time and use animation and video when it's necessary to do so. Finally, repurpose your existing creatives for a cost-effective, brand-building content source.

How to Enhance Your Web Design

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Here are important tips to help you make the most attractive website and more importantly a useful web design that will enhance user experience.

Provide what your visitors want and not what you want - each time you are designing a website, you should always take into consideration the fact that the website is used by different people, each with their tastes and preferences. While flashy images and graphics such as animated GIF, scrolling text, and auto loading sound could be a welcome to the designer, and could make the website attractive, it might not go well with your target audience. For one, consider the fact that people use different ISPs; hence the loading of web pages could be compromised by such flashy images and graphics. Most people find them distractive, actually more of forceful bidding.

Content - how would you react when you see a much publicized book only to open it and find no words written inside? Well, that is how a website without useful and informative content is. While this does not fall under web designing per se, content is still a very critical consideration. A good website is not a good website until the face is complete - i.e. the content, which ought to be informative yet precise.

Avoid pop-up windows - there is nothing as irritating as a pop-up window that contains no relevant, actually, non-related information. When designing a website, pop-up windows should be avoided as much as possible but if they must be included, you should ensure it is one with very useful information that your visitors are looking for.

Be straightforward - in the micro-wave paced world that we live in today, people expect everything instant - instant coffee, instant tea, instant delivery of service etc, thus instant info online. Today, people lack enough patience to keep on clicking link after link to get the information that they want. Thus, you should limit clicks if you want to maximize your returns.

Graphic software - today, people don't have the time to visit the market or mall to shop, perhaps because of tight schedules and crazy deadlines to meet, hence the popularity of websites. When a website takes a longer time to load, it is a real turn-off as most people are very impatient. To accelerate the speed at which your web pages load, you might want to download graphic software such as JPEG wizard, Gifbot, GifCruncher, or Graphic Converter, which are known to compress the files thereby making them easy to load.

Inducing Different Types of Brain Waves For Success

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

The brain is capable of many forms of success, in super states where we are performing far beyond our normal capacities. Think, learn and act, these are the intangible talents that can receive a boost. Heal, grow, meditate and relax, these are some of the physical attributes that can be magnified with brain wave entrainment. The explanation is quite simple; the brain has billions of neurons existing within its intricate framework, acting as messengers to and from the various important parts of the brain. The messages are quite important, and they continue the body's normal functions and routines as the day goes by.

Without these neurons, we would not be able to function normally; and this would mean that our brain would be an inert object, quite uselessly sitting as a dead crown within our anointed temple. When these neurons do communicate with one another, they release a burst of electromagnetic pulses, which travel along the nerve endings and into the information superhighway of the cerebral cortex. Science has discovered that these neurons also fire universal patterns with the brain and cause it to exist in different frequency states. Discovered a few years ago by sensitive electromagnetic equipment, scientists also discovered that these frequencies differed according to what state the body was in; sleep, rest, alert, walking etc. With a bit more research, it was managed to be discovered that there a few distinct frequency ranges, namely the lower Alpha ranges all the way to SMR and Theta ranges.

Each of these ranges represented not only the state that the mind is in, but it also saw the brain existing in several super states. Lower frequency ranges were often associated with states of relaxation, of meditation, super learning, accelerated healing and a release of growth hormones. Higher states were often associated with functions like mental focus, overall concentration, levels of energy, states of elation, high adrenalin levels etc.

As you can see the application levels for this in the personal development industry can be enormous, and it became huge when it was discovered that sculptured sounds introduced to the ears in varying frequency allowed us to evoke the same frequency response in the cortical of the brain. This means that we can call up on any sort of super state that we wanted, whenever we wanted. This is the celebration of the potential of the human raced being realised in the one thing that sets us apart in the animal kingdom - technology.

Inducing the different types of brain waves for success is now all the more possible for consumers around the world, and because of the form of technology it is in - the CD, all one needs to do is to find a quiet corner and put on a pair of earphones. The power to enhance yourself is now in the hands of many, and you can be one yourself. Brainwave entrainment technology, also known as frequency evoking software and music, is available all over the internet, just make sure you get it from a trusted provider.

Sketchup and Online Landscape Design - Creating a 3D Landscape

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Sketchup is 3D design software that is used for many different industries.

However, for the hard to visualize area of landscape design, it can provide one of the best portrayals of the 3D landscape.

Sketchup was originally owned by @Last Software, but it was bought by Google. Hmmm....I guess Google thought it was pretty good. And it is.

There is a free version and a paid version. For the average person, the free version is fine. If you want to get more intricate with such things as grading and showing different elevations, then you will want the paid version.

For residential design, you can use this program in a couple of different ways.

The first way is to design right in the program. With a click of the mouse, you can set the drawing in a perspective position. Guidelines help you make sure you are drawing correctly. You can enter actual heights and lengths of objects, such as a house. You can put in the dimensions of the house, ie., length and width. Then use something called the pull tool to extend it up to the correct height.

It is all very user friendly. Also, what is created has an artistic flair to it, which makes it a lot of fun!

You can also view different materials for landscape elements. For example, if you are drawing a patio, you can go to the Materials area and choose what you might like. There are many different materials and you can change them as you like to see the differences. Some choices are stone, pavers, brick and concrete.

A plant palette is offered also. These are fine. However, for a more sophisticated look, there are other inexpensive components you can buy to use in your design.

The second way of using Sketchup is to create a 2D drawing in such programs as AutoCad, and import it into Sketchup. In this situation, you are working from your drawing so that an exact replica of the design is created. This allows you to see what a drawing will look like when built. Changes are easily made if there is something you don't like or want to add.

Some of the components you can add to the 3D landscape design are people, cars, grills, pergolas, plants, any many, many more. These are available directly through the program or through something called Google Warehouse. They are all free.

There is a lot of flexibility with the components. You can resize or rescale them if you need to. You can also change colors of both components and materials.

By adding window components to a house, you can actually position a person inside the house. This allows you to attain a view as if you were inside looking out. What a great feature to see what your view will be like.

You can also create scenes. Scenes let you save a particular view. These scenes can also be exported into jpeg images. You can also create an animation which is a fly by or walk through of the entire design!

Any or all of these features can be used to suit your purposes. The software can be used in both simple and sophisticated ways. There are many other features available also. All in all it is a great 3D program.
